We all have them at some point. Some of us are more fortunate to have them even into our older years. They are wise because they have the experience that life demands, and they are caring because they know how difficult and merciless the real world really is. These people are our grandmothers, grandfathers, great uncles, and aunts. These are the most important part of any family not just because they laid the current foundation but because they guide us, they know what is best for us and they will always be devoted to preparing us for the future, whatever it may bring.

Choosing love isn’t about pretending to feel loving when you don’t, or doing ‘loving things’ from an inauthentic place. It can, however, be about making an over-riding intention for love, which can help you move towards the greater opening to, receiving, and giving of love. The times you feel most separate from love, most fearful/wounded/stressed/angry/shamed, etc. are the times you may feel least loving or loveable, and least able or desiring to ‘flip a switch’ and be in a loving space, understandably so. These may also be the times when love would most support you, most nourish, heal and restore you.
